Introduction
Hello, I'm Allan Stocco, and I'm a full stack engineer.
For the last four years I've been the sole mobile developer at MWX, a small UK startup. I own the React Native stack end to end: architecture, native iOS and Android builds, App Store and Play Store releases, over-the-air updates and push infrastructure. Then I cross to the other side and build the Node.js services the apps talk to.
I also design, ship and maintain my own apps as a registered UK app developer. Zapem, a WhatsApp AI agent for small Brazilian businesses, is live on both stores.
This site is built with Next.js, TypeScript and Chakra UI, because those are the tools I reach for when nobody is telling me what to use.

Core engineering team of three (frontend lead, backend engineer, CTO), reporting directly to the CEO and coordinating with a remote development team in India. Sole mobile developer across all products.

2024 – Present
- Sole developer of the React Native app, owning architecture, releases and production support across iOS and Android.
- Built and shipped five third-party OAuth integrations (Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Yahoo and iCloud), covering token refresh, sync and error recovery.
- Designed the push notification and deep-linking architecture, integrating Customer.io end to end so campaign config stays in sync with app code.
- Implemented streaming AI responses in Expo, giving token-by-token output instead of blocking on full completions.
- Set up OTA updates with minimum-version enforcement, so JavaScript fixes reach users in hours rather than waiting on store review.
- Diagnosed and fixed native build failures that blocked releases, including an iOS dependency cycle introduced by a notification service extension and an Xcode 16 build hang.
- Contributed backend features across three Node.js services (main API, upload API, socket API), including real-time functionality and RAG retrieval over a vector database.

- Sole developer of a Next.js and Node.js platform, delivered from frontend through to backend infrastructure and deployment.
Cross-product platform work
- Integrated Stripe subscription billing (three tiers, GBP/USD) on a Koa backend using the Checkout-hosted flow, chosen over Elements to keep card data out of scope.
- Owned CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and production infrastructure on AWS (EC2, S3) with MySQL and Redis.

About me
So, the human side. I'm Brazilian, Portuguese is my first language, and these days home is Sevenoaks, in Kent.
Before software there was music: I studied classical guitar at university. The two have more in common than you'd think. Both reward slow, deliberate practice, both punish shortcuts, and in both the audience only notices the work when something goes wrong.
I like small teams, where I can own a problem from the first sketch to the store release. And I get restless without something of my own on the side, which is how I ended up as a registered app developer with apps on both stores.
